Making a first appointment

If you’d like to contact me to arrange an initial consultation, please use the form opposite.  I shall respond promptly - within 48 hours Monday to Friday. You are welcome to tell me about yourself here or simply request an appointment and wait to tell me more when we meet for the first time.

Please note I don’t offer psychotherapy to young people under the age of 18 years old. 

If you feel in crisis and need urgent support please do not wait for my response, instead take yourself straight to A&E or call NHS 111.

What to expect

The initial consultation is an opportunity to talk to me about what has brought you to my door. I recognise what a big step this is and I will be able to help you to talk to me.

During the consultation, you will see how it feels to talk. I can answer any questions you have about the process of therapy and we will then be able to consider whether it seems right for you.

There is no rush to make a decision. You will have time to reflect on the things that came up initially, whether you found something intriguing, or new and whether you felt understood.

This process will usually extend over at least two appointments, before I would invite you to begin sessions or perhaps wait a short while for a suitable session time.

Do you work on-line?

I do work on line when it suits a patient to do so - you might be travelling for work or taking a holiday and on-line appointments maintain the continuity of your sessions and ensure you don’t miss out. However, I don’t work only on-line. I prefer to work face to face and so every patient most of the time attends face to face sessions in my consulting room in Bath.
